چکیده

Abstract Background and Aims Conventional risk factors of cardiovascular disease mortality in the general population such as body mass is relate to adverse outcome dialysis patients, but often an opposite direction (reverse epidemiology). On contrary, epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) has reported have a local inflammatory proatherogenic effect. Thus, association EAT direct measures region specific chronic kidney (CKD) been studied. Method The study evaluated 37 CKD-5 patients hemodialysis (mean duration 26±30 months, 70% males, 57% African-American, 48% diabetic) that underwent MSCT measure coronary artery calcium (CAC) score. CAC distribution quartiles was assessed. Finally, we measured patients’ index (BMI) categorized them normal (BMI 18.5-25 kg/m2) abnormal BMI >25 kg/m2). Results mean 28.6±5.7 kg/m2, volume 66±29 ml 102±69 for groups. There correlation between vintage while showed inverse relationship with (p = 0.05). In this small sample size, only marginally significant 0.7). significantly correlated age 0.02), history 0.03) diabetes 0.001). Conclusion face appear support notion state inflammation malnutrition.

Comparison of Epicardial Adipose Tissue Fatty Acid Profile in Cardiovascular Disease Patients Diabetic and Non-Diabetic

ABSTRACT         Background and Objective: The relationship between diabetes mellitus and increased risk of cardiovascular diseases has been demonstrated. The aim of this study was to determine the fatty acid profile of epicardial adipose tissue in diabetic and non-diabetic patients with cardiovascular disease.       &nb...

Epicardial adipose tissue volume and cardiovascular disease in hemodialysis patients.

OBJECTIVE Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is proposed as a cardiovascular risk marker in non-uremic subjects. However, little is known about its role in patients with higher cardiovascular risk profile such as chronic kidney disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between EAT and several cardiovascular surrogate markers (coronary artery calcification (CAC), arterial s...

Epicardial adipose tissue in patients with heart failure

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) is common in patients with heart failure (HF), contributes to the progression of cardiac disease, and is associated with adverse prognosis. Previous evidence indicates that epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is independently associated with sleep apnea in obese individuals. We explored the relationship between SDB and EAT in HF patients. METHO...

Epicardial Adipose Tissue in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

RATIONALE Epicardial Adipose Tissue (EAT) volume as determined by chest computed tomography (CT) is an independent marker of cardiovascular events in the general population. COPD patients have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, however nothing is known about the EAT volume in this population. OBJECTIVES To assess EAT volume in COPD and explore its association with clinical and physi...

Epicardial adipose tissue and atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most frequent cardiac arrhythmia in clinical practice. AF is often associated with profound functional and structural alterations of the atrial myocardium that compose its substrate. Recently, a relationship between the thickness of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) and the incidence and severity of AF has been reported. Adipose tissue is a biologically active orga...
